Since 2001, Vincon Diagnostic Center has privately funded an active Research and Development program designed to develop new radiologic pharmaceutical products and technological methods for improving the quality of healthcare.

Gastrocat is a U.S. and foreign patent-pending proprietary pharmaceutical agent, currently in product development, which results in rapid opacification of the gastrointestinal tract, from 3 to 4 hours via conventional methods, to only 50 minutes, in conjunction with CT scan examinations of the abdomen and pelvis. The agent uses a unique combination of fixed dose of diatrizoate salts, which is administered orally as a prepared beverage. Gastrocat, currently being investigated in the United Kingdom, increases the sensitivity of appendicitis detection to nearly 100%, in Phase III/IV clinical trials. The incidence of appendicitis in the general population is approximately 8%. Over 65 million CT scans are performed annually in the United States, providing a large market exposure for Gastrocat. For more information regarding Gastrocat, visit the website www.gastrocat.com.

STIP is an acronym for Soft Tissue Injury Protocol, utilizing motion MRI technology and methods developed at Vincon, for characterization and grading of whiplash injuries of the cervical spine following a motor vehicle accident. Nearly 4 million people sustain whiplash injuries related to motor vehicle accidents in the United States and United Kingdom, at a cost of approximately $25 billion to the automobile insurance carrier, which averages approximately $7000 per patient. STIP is the only mechanized method of assessing both the ligamentous and diskogenic components of whiplash injury, in the composite spectrum of soft tissue injury. Patients can be graded from 1 to 5, based on severity of injury, and approximately 68% are Class1 and 2 injuries.
